Registering as Care Experienced

A care leaver is generally someone who has been in the care of their local authority for a period of 13 weeks or more around their 16th birthday. You could have been in foster care or living in residential accommodation.

We provide support for all students that have been in care, even if you don’t fit this definition. We call this care-experienced.

Please use this form to register as a Care Leaver or Care Experienced Student with the university for the annual Academic Year.

If you have spent any time in care (foster care, residential care, kinship care etc) please fill this form in to let us know and receive support.

We ask for the following information so that we can best support you as a Care Experienced Student. Most of this form involves multiple choice questions so whilst the form may appear long, it should only take you around 15 minutes to complete

Once submitted, an adviser will review your form submission and evidence and be in touch with the support you are eligible for. There are exceptional circumstances in which confidentiality can be broken: - where there is a serious threat to the student’s personal safety - where there is a serious threat to the safety of others - where there is a legal requirement to disclose that information.
